Big day here at SERVE

Sharing prayer together

Originally uploaded by Ripon SERVE.

Good evening, everyone! Sorry for the lack of posting today. We have had a busy day today. The roads crews worked hard today at their various work sites. Each work crew has been able to visit different sites this week in an effort to get different experiences each day!

Today, concrete continued to be poured and fences continued to go up. Sod was laid at the Redwood Center, so now they have a beautiful grass area to use for their ministry. The projects in some ways are starting to finish up, but there is still work to be done.

Tonight, we had an amazing opportunity to experience how God works in people’s lives. We packed up our evening session and moved it up to the Stockton Gospel Mission. We found the chapel filled with people from the mission. The chapel was filled with music and laughter. Matt read some scripture, and several people from the Mission shared their testimonies. One of the students even shared about her faith. Following the session, several people prayed with those from the Mission. The road crews even got the chance to meet with one another at the Mission. All in all, it was a great day and amazing night!!

Tomorrow, the team is headed to Santa Cruz for a much needed day away. It will be a great day with some surf, sand and perhaps a dolphin or two! Have a great night!

As Day Five kick starts into gear, we are starting to see the blending between the American and Canadian cultures. The students are finding out that there aren’t too many differences between each others’ lives. Sure, some may live in a bigger city, while others live in a country setting. But everyone listens to similar types of music and watches the same tv shows. With this knowledge, the road crews are forming bonds and relationships are building each day.

This morning several road crews got an early start to continue working on roofing and concrete. The rest enjoyed a great breakfast and a combined quiet time. In quiet time, we focused on strengths and weaknesses and how they play a part in our lives.

Tonight will be a special night for everyone, as we will be having our worship time at the Mission with the men that live there. It will be a very unique time as it will be a new experience for everyone involved. Please pray for everyone involved with this night.
